The Old Gods Are Watching

Draugablíkk invites you on a musical journey through the ancient landscapes of Scandinavia and onto the Great Steppe. Guided by the watchful gaze of the Old Gods, we seamlessly blend the rich tapestry of Nordic folk with the shamanic song traditions of Serkland, a historical region east of Scandinavia and Finland.

The world of our ancestors was danger, intrigue, and blood feud. They lived in a world of wonder and supernatural realities now long forgotten. Draugablíkk seeks to rediscover the past to unearth long-lost knowledge from a time when only the brave survived — and only the wise prospered.

Our songs echo the distant past, from the Scythians — nomadic warriors renowned for their horseback archery and rich culture—to the fall of Rome and the rise of the Merovingian and Vendel eras, precursors to the Viking Age.

Featuring haunting melodies from the “talharpa” horsehair lyre and bukkehorn, our music intertwines with evocative sounds from the Steppe—saz and tsuur: A fusion of shamanic energy and the traditions of the circumpolar north.

We explore a rich tapestry of historical narratives from runestones, stelae, the Norse sagas, and hearsay lore. Sources include Visigothic, Saxon, Roman, Old English, Saxon, Frankish, and Rus-Slavonic records. Occasionally, we delve into the Bronze Age and earlier periods, rediscovering the interplay between nomadic spirituality and the folk magic of Scandinavia.

Third Eye Blind

Within the realm of profound understanding, mystery reigns supreme. Yet, not all souls have the elusive spark of Draugablíkk — a sacred gift, granting the sight of hidden realms and modern mysteries through knowledge of forbidden history.

“The task at hand falls on those blessed with the blíkk, people with a natural ability to connect with the past, seeing reality for what it is.”

The task at hand falls on those who are blessed with the blíkk, people with a natural ability to connect with the past while seeing reality for what it is. Special persons who can sense the ancestral ghosts around us, the sleeping giants in the hills, and the great beasts and deities others dismiss as legend.

It’s Not All About the Music

In addition to being a folk act focused on exploring ancient musical traditions, history, and lore, Draugablíkk is a cross-cultural project that aims to raise awareness of who we are — and from whence we came.

Themes include the Hunno-Gutnish conflicts and their attempted conquest of Europe, which eventually led to the fall of the Western Roman Empire and the rise of the Dark Ages. Turbulent times that fostered the dawn of the Viking Age.

Draugablíkk is a thought form, establishing itself through invigorating fiction and art based on the myths in which lies the initial truth of our creation.

The Old Gods Are Watching

The Old Gods do not want us to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery and meaning. Nonetheless, those who willingly embark on the path of self-initiation shall rekindle the forces of the Old Gods that will defy those who govern from the shadows.

Best wishes you may be reborn with the blíkk,
